TRACKING & TAGGING SYSTEM
Due to the hazards that exist in the mining environment, an emphasis is placed on the safety of the workers. One the most powerful tools available for OH&S is the ability to locate workers should an emergency situation arise. By utilizing the Minetec Trax+Tags solution, real-time location data can be provided to dispatch operators, shift supervisors, or anyone with access to the corporate network.
Minetec uses propriety protocols to track the location of people, machinery or assets underground. This can be done by zone or to an accuracy of +/-20m.

Minetec have developed a Software platform that can view this data in 2 dimensional or 3 dimensional views. The same software can be sent to multiple computer clients anywhere on the mining IT network. Extra plug in options are available whereas clients can view and search this data within tagboards, reports etc.

Collision avoidance is a crucial issue for mining operations in terms of worker safety, damage to machinery and costly shutdowns. It is arguably the biggest killer on mine sites today.

Without the ability to locate personnel reliably underground makes it very difficult to provide a system that reliably prevents accident. A system that provides constant unreliable alarms will soon become just as useless as having no system at all.

Minetec considered this when we built our detection system that has no single point of failure as a communication system and by having dual detection layers prior to alarming preventing false alarms. The system interfaces with our trax and tags system and the software is a plug-in option that can run on our Ruggedized computer units.
PROXIMITY ALERT ON VEHICLE'S COMPUTER SCREEN

In addition to displaying known locations from the central server, vehicles can be configured to passively listen for tag beacons. When a tag beacon is received by a vehicle reader, the operator is notified on-screen that a vehicle or worker is nearby; the operator should then attempt to obtain visual confirmation.

The warning and visualization of nearby traffic and personnel will provide an onscreen 2D image of approximately 200m radius of machine.

As part of the ISO/IEC 24730 standard, a low-frequency communication channel exists for a variety of uses.
The proximity awareness system uses this channel in order to trigger tags in close proximity (< 10 meters), to report their status, which includes the vehicle ID. On reception of a beacon matching its own vehicle ID, an alert status is raised. This can be done via on-screen messaging, visual, or audible alarm.
TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
During rapid construction/mining Traffic Congestion in underground declines can decrease work rates not only for production cycles but for the whole operation

Minetec has developed a system that provides an ability to view nearby traffic via an onboard display. The system can not only provide a visual of what is within 1km from you but it also provides what nearby stockpiles are free or closed, miners can free up traffic congestions by prioritizing routes before the stoppages happen.

This application is developed by employing the technology behind Trax+TagsTM and Collision DetectionTM applications. It has the real-time ability to locate underground parking areas such as stockpiles, personnel, and vehicles within the tunnels alerting all vehicles in their near vicinity.
POTENTIAL VEHICLE COLLISION IN UNDERGROUND MINE

Common vehicle congestion that can occur in an underground mine as a descending truck backs into a stockpile to make way for a fully loaded truck. This example can cause major delays in production/construction and restrict the amount of truck cycles especially if there are only one or two portals or multiple trucks operating in a long decline.
MESSAGING INTERFACE SYSTEM
In the past Minetec have provided customized messaging systems throughout the mining operation. We aim to fill gaps in the industry that can be left with implementation on other products available in today's market.
These have arranged from simple paging system through to multiple SMS, page and voice alarms for groups like Emergency response groups, Lone worker alarms for Electrical departments or Screen messaging systems for Mine Production crews. The systems can differ in alerts for instance underground miners prefer a flashing cap lamp and above ground miners prefer audible alarms.

As Minetec strives itself in our ability to design and integrate we can provide a message solution for you.
